Wishing everyone a happy new year, and a brilliant 2013!

Last night it occurred to me that this time next year my life will be completely different. Not only will I be a year older and hopefully wiser, but I will be in a different country, in a different continent, celebrating in a different language, preparing to spend New Years Eve Honduras style!

Smarties #1

For christmas I gave members of my family a packet of smarties and asked them very nicely if they would fill them up with 20p's and donate them to my fundrasing task! This is the first of hopefully many!

Thank you Auntie Carole and Uncle David!

I have to raise a total of £5,400 to be able to attend my project, and any help, pounds or pennies will be much appreciated! This is my virgin money giving website where you can donate as much or as little as you want :)

Thank you

The beginning...

On Monday the 10th of December I found out that I had been chosen to be a volunteer for Project Trust, and that I would be going to Honduras to teach primary school education! I was extremely excited and overwhelmed that this was actually going to happen.

Following a talk in school from Ben, a former volunteer of Project Trust, I was adamant that I wanted to take a gap year and experience a bit more of the world, so I applied for the Selection course as soon as I got home and explained to my parents about my sudden decision to change my future!

I was accepted on the selection course, and so tickets had to be purchased for the epic journey up to Oban, and then further on to the Isle of Coll, home of Project Trust!
My week there was amazing, meeting lots of new people who came to be really good friends in just a few short days. We dug some lazy beds, we climbed a big hill and we were prepared for the possibility of a year in a foreign third world country.

After returning home, on yet another epic journey back to Mid wales, a week went by with no news. However Monday the 10th finally arrived, as did my letter from Project. I was extremely happy to learn that I had been chosen as a volunteer and for my selected country, Honduras!

So now the reality of what I'm going to do has started to kick in, in August of 2013, I, Rachel Liscombe will be travelling on a plane, possibly before my 18th birthday, to Honduras for a year to teach primary school education...wow....now just the prospect of £5,400 to raise....
